The ISACA Accra Chapter was formed by IT and Audit professionals in Accra, Ghana, as part of the global network of more than 100,000 professionals in 180 countries. The Accra Chapter is ISACA’s 184th chapter worldwide.
As an independent, non-profit, global association, ISACA engages in the development, adoption and use of globally accepted, industry-leading knowledge and practices for information systems. ISACA got its start in 1967, when a small group of individuals with similar jobs—auditing controls in the computer systems that were becoming increasingly critical to the operations of their organizations—sat down to discuss the need for a centralized source of information and guidance in the field.
Today, ISACA’s membership is characterized by its diversity. Members live and work in more than 180 countries and cover a variety of professional IT-related positions—to name just a few, IS auditor, consultant, educator, IS security professional, regulator, chief information officer and internal auditor. Previously known as the Information Systems Audit and Control Association, ISACA now goes by its acronym only, to reflect the broad range of IT governance professionals it serves.
The ISACA Accra Chapter was formed to provide educational opportunities to IT professionals in the area and to ensure that best practice regulatory policies in information security compliance and IT audit are mainstreamed in the Ghanaian business environment.
The chapter offers educational and professional opportunities that include:
- Exam preparation courses for ISACA’s various certifications
- Participation in major continental conferences
- Opportunities to earn continuing professional education (CPE) credits
- Networking opportunities with peers and experts
- Opportunities to ensure that ISACA’s IS auditing standards are propagated throughout Ghana
